Giving smartphones to children involves a lot of decision making before the buying of the phone. At what age should the phone be given, whether Android or iPhone, should there be parental monitoring apps installed, so on and so forth. Children have specific ideas for a phone that they would like to use, like the price, features, and phones used by peers. Parents must thoroughly research the phone they would like their children to use before making any decisions.
The phone that can be used by children should be compatible with Parental monitoring apps and software – whether anAndroid or iPhone.
Apple iPhones have pre-loaded monitoring and restriction options. Kids’ iPhones can be monitored easily as all the data gets uploaded to the family iCloud. The only restriction is that the child, too, can access the iCloud and spy ontheir parent’s iPhones.
With an iPhone, parents can limit, block, and prevent some apps that are not appropriate. But most of it is age-restricted. If the child needs a particular app to complete school work that falls under the limits, it is not possible to access that app.
Androids do not come with any pre-loaded monitoring apps as the iPhones do. To control what children are doing on their android phones, parents will have to spy on android phones physically. The other option that parents have is to install a parental monitoring app. Though Android phones have certain restrictions, the children are smart enough to enable those functions; for the duration that they want and disable them again.
Parents can also create a different user profile for children to access with permissions only from the administrator. But that does not imply that your child will not be able to access those apps without the administrator’s approval.
Both iPhones and androids have their own set of advantages and disadvantages regarding parental monitoring. Additional parental monitoring software or apps will only help parents improve the safety of their children.
Neither the iPhone nor Android is superior. It is all a matter of one’s personal choice. Safety measures in both iPhones and Androids are not adequate. Additional Parental monitoring appsmust be researched and loaded.Another point to keep in mind is that with every upgrade, parental monitoring software should be compatible.
Parental monitoring apps should allow parents to monitor the activities of children without their knowledge. These can include time spent surfing the net or chatting with friends; images watched, uploaded, or downloaded; requests made or received.
But children should be made aware that they are being monitored else that will feel that their parents are spying on their Androids.
Before deciding to buy a phone, parents must thoroughly research which parental monitoring apps are best suited for their needs. The chosen software or app must let parents choose options that are preferred by them rather than forced onto them.
