Cyberbullying

Believe it or not, around 40% of kids & teenagers have become a victim of cyberbullying. While only 20% of them have filed complaints to the authorities. 20% of teens who are cyberbullied have thoughts about suicide. Here we have listed a few red signs that you must know to protect your kids for not becoming a victim of cyberbullying.

Changes in the Way of Using Technology:

As a parent, you must gauge how often your teen is taking a smartphone in hands and start chatting on it. The changes in the way of using mobile phones are nothing but a red signal for you. When your kid starts using the phones a lot of time or little; it’s an indicator that your child may be experiencing cyberbullying. If they have started reducing their spending on mobile phones and/or Internet; ask them gently for the same.

Talk with your kids about anything bad that happened with them; they will surely tell the whole story. Tell them not to worry about; take charge of their online bullying case.

Feeling Awkward while Receiving Email, Chat or Text Alert:

If the alert sound of a message makes your teen anxious; it’s time to dig into further to know the reason behind it. There is a higher chance that your child has become a victim of cyberbullying. Social media is now becoming a habit due to its addictive nature and especially, teens look at it more than regular time. If you see your son/daughter stressed while chatting; there could be a problem.

Being Secretive About mobile activities:

I agree that kids don’t open about sharing private lives most of the time. Many parents would agree that kids sometimes couldn’t resist themselves to share some gossip like “Mom, do you know what happened today during lunch break?” “Mom, see how many people have wished me on my birthday?”

If your teen feels nervous when someone comes around to his/her phone or locks the screen quickly or close the app immediately. It may be an indication that your kid is having a problem. You should take it seriously and solve the problem before it may become huge. If your teen is shy and can’t tell you frankly, you can use internet monitoring software for parents to keep a track record of your teen’s online activities.

Poor Performance in Academic:

No teen would love to do homework; it makes them unhappy. However, they do get a good score in exams. If your teen is not completing homework and/or failing to clear the exam. Better to ask what’s wrong with your kid. It’s not a good sign at all. OR you can install a child phone monitoring app to know what’s going on your kid’s mobile phone.

For others, Cyberbullying may be fun but not for the victims and their parents. Cyberbullying is a dangerous issue and must be taken seriously by the parents to save their kids from such traps. Install parental control app to your kid’s mobile is now a need of an hour. Install today and keep a sharp eye on your teen’s mobile activities.
